Outright I know it’s been a long winter, And still that feeling is here, Now I know the fortune teller, Had nothing good to seer. It was one Christmas eve, Laughing, smiling, toying with me, On a city tram from Fitzroy, That wasn’t stopping as far as I could see. But since then it’s been a long winter, And spring is nearly here, All summer long I’m searching, But two go past and you’re not near. The sun is more off centre, And a breeze is setting in, The leaves are about to fall, fall, fall, ‘bout the time I hit the wall, wooh, Though I feel like waiting, Time has come that I should move on, I seem a little crazy to you, You don’t look at me the way that I do you, Now it’s winter, now it’s spring, One season turns into the next thing, Now it’s winter, now it’s spring, One season turns into the next, Things just never seemed to work out right from the outright. From the outright.

Homeward Bound There is an ever constant buzz around, Combined with random engine sounds, Passing rumbles present underfoot, The screech of brakes is all it took, Vending junk is all around us, Robot voiced announcers, Lollipop music with annoying hooks, Billboards are everywhere you look, The countdown’s begun darling, not very long, We’re moving forward, ever slowly, homeward bound, We’re homeward bound. Maybe those sounds are lions underground, Watching and bracing, ‘bout to pounce, To relieve the pressures, with clenched jaws On the treasures they restore. Buildings with vines all around them, Trees push through cracks at random, Waves breaking into rooves of houses, Fish school past a blackboard which announces, The countdowns begun children, not very long, We’re moving forward, ever slowly, homeward bound, We’re homeward bound. Why should we be living in a concrete place, With a million people, who’ll never even know your face, Why should we be living in a constant race, With a million people, you’ll never even know your place.

The Sun & Me 08:39
The Sun and Me When I woke up in the morning with the sunlight in my eyes, The first thing that struck me was how it seemed to energize. I got up for the first time before my clock had time to chime, Between window pane and curtain there you bloom full beam. Even before I open them my eyes are filled with tangerine, And when I do there’s your face in front of me. My one and only fear is that you’re going to go away, Away from here to light another’s day. Tangerine, just the sun and me. I can’t think of all the times you were watching over me, guiding me through clear water or through the streets I know. You turn the leaves from black to green, I feel you in the air I breathe, Even the dust circling through the air seems to sparkle in your glow, Sparkle with the glow you bring a room, Sparkle with the glow you bring a room, Tangerine, just the sun and me, Tangerine, it’s just you and me…

You know that the world is far apart, You and I, the world's apart, You know that the world's split far apart, You and I, we're worlds apart. Circular curved, it's the earth's way, The earth's way to not go straight, We're could try walk, walk infinite ways, But we'll always end up where we started from. That's why we've got to live together, You know we got to live together, Because we're floating here together, forever. Circular curved, it's the earth's way, The earth's way to not go straight, We're could try walk, walk these miles, But we'll always end up where we started from. That's why we've got to live together, You know we got to live together, Because we're floating here together, forever.

Find Our Day in the Sun I’m only just making it through, oh lord, it seems, Every day I’m starting anew. This day by day situation shows me no relief, relentlessly, Will you be there for me in the end when I’m released? From the gravity that’s had me chained, ever since you brought me here. From the gravity that’s had me chained, ever since, you brought me here. Few can see what I’m going through but then, only you can deem, Where we’re heading to in the grand scheme of things, Cos we’re gonna find our day in the sun, We’re gonna find our day in the sun. All they’ve got they give to you, oh lord, but for now, I choose to keep mine here, radiating around, Rather than keeping it to myself, or confining it to certain grounds, They’re only borders they’ve set on days to erase. Thankfully you’re never too far away, to see, Or held by one land’s men, or contained by them, You’re all seeing eye knows my intentions are clean, Whether they’re seen, Which is why with grace I say, lead the way, Cos we’re gonna find our day in the sun, We’re gonna find our day in the sun.

about

Astro has played professionally since he was 12 in blues legend Wiley Reed's band. Since moving to Melbourne he has played and recorded with many bands, on a 33 show European tour with DubFX and recent shows with Kaiit.
This is Astro & The Ages debut album, featuring his velvety vocals, silky trumpet and his deep soul songs.

The sound is soul and reggae with a slight melancholy, blues inflections, elative ambience and rhythms from around the world, and it has been connecting with people in a very positive way.
